Spring Break Turn Out

During spring break i my bud and a couple of other guys turned out some bucking stock including bulls and broncs. I was introduced to a couple of guys. There was Tanner Williams a bull rider who tried out bareback, which ended up really funny. Then there was Tyler Hansen. A champion roper and bull rider. He was a pretty cool guy. Then there was Caleb and Eli Hendi a pair of bull riding brothers. I showed up to late for the bull riding. My friend told me he was riding at 12:30 but he rides broncs so i missed the bull riding. The only thing i saw was a warn out bull loaded up to Kody's trailer. Noahs dad took forever bringing in the stock. We probably waited a good half hour for dean to show up. Noah ended up riding three times and Tanner tried twice. Noah got bucked off the first two tries and tanner he got bucked of every time. But the last ride Noah rode for prbbly a good ten seconds. On Noahs second try his bronc ran into Deans horse. We couldnt stop laughing. Then on the third try Noah had a solid ride. It was probably around ten seconds. When he fell off i heard the fence get hit. I thought it was Noah's big noggan hitting the fence.

Family

Its crossed my mind that something to compete for is the love of your family and show them that with the help of their love you and achieve the greatest of all feets. It's amazing how much of who you are is rooted in from where you came from.Wether you want to admit it or not your family means a lot to you.Garunteed if someone close to you died youd cry and wish you enjoyed the time with them that you had.Now im not saying youll always get along because with every relationship you have its not going to be perfect. Its going to be bumpy.Every beautiful body of water has its storms. But even if your mad at them you should still love them.I just want to say thanks to my family and i love them.

Friends

Friends.Life means nothing if you dont have anyone there to enjoy it with you.Wether it be girlfriends best friends, or imaginary friends.Friends make life a whole lot better. Now how does friends tie into rodeo? Well hell they make you work twice as hard and they make sure you dont give up.My closest friends have always been there for me and ive done my best to return the favor. So through thick and then beginning to end, you can always count on your brother to go through hell with you and reep the rewards of heaven also.

Practice Makes Perfect

Well i went in the other week to get my hair cut from my barber Kevin Coblance who is Kody's father.Turns out his got bucking stock. So i asked if i could practice on them and he gave me the thumbs up.That was my second worry on rodeo.Getting enough practice.Because at first its learning the basics, then when you have the basics down practice, practice, practice and more practice. Thats the only way you can get good.It took some of the best in the sport more then a hundred.I need to accomplish this many within a year to be able to be a good competitor in state next year. That is my dream.Go to state, ride the best and win a buckle and saddle. So i need practice to get where i want to go.So im willing to pay the price to be good at this.

The Ultimate Beast

Since Greek mythology the bull has always held the rank of being a menacing creature. They created the minotaur half man and half bull. This would scare many travelers and entertain children. In todays society the bull is still a player in rodeo.Probably the most well know event in rodeo is the bull riding. My sport.Bulls dont scare me like they scarred the men of old. They are dangerous but its not like they want to hurt you. They just want to buck you off and get on with their business.People will hit you a lot sooner.Well turns out stock contractors are breeding their bulls to be ruthless now.But im looking at this as more of a challenge. But you still need god on your side.

The High Of Rodeo

and a hundred before that
All gathered in the thinkin'
Goin' on beneath this hat.

The cold flame burns within him
'Til his skin's as cold as ice
And the dues he paid to get here
Are worth every sacrifice.

All the miles spend sleepy drivin'
All the money down the drain,
All the 'if I's' and 'nearly's,'
All the bandages and pain,

All the female tears left dryin',
All the fever and the fight
Are just a small down payment
On the ride he makes tonight.

It's guts and love and glory,
One mortal's chance at fame.
His legacy is rodeo
And cowboy is his name.

School In April

Rodeo just isnt a sport. To many Americans its part of their lifestyle. My grandpa grew up watching rodeo's and so have I. Its part of Americas history and legacy. Part of the history i hope remains long enough for my children to grow up enjoying what i had to enjoy. The feeling from just thinking about it puts adrenaline in my chest. The fires of competition growing waiting for April. This is the way April's going to go down. I'm hitching a ride with Kody Coblance. He's going to the school for bull fighting which is more widely known as rodeo clowning. Caleb Henne is also coming along. He's a fellow bull rider but not the greatest. From what i know he's a good kid. We're all shacking up together at a 2 cent hotel.I sure hope i don't have to share a bed with Kody.So back to the school. The first day is going to be a tutorial based class session and includes mechanical riding and 1 live bull ride. The second day is more live riding on as many livestock as you can handle. On the third day is the competition.Where im going to win the buckle.Just kidding bout that but i am going to do my best. The high school rodeo's start up before that so the hard part is earning enough money to by the equipment so i can make it to state

this is me

i guess ill blog about the good ole days the ones past and the ones to come. Back in the day life was good. Not a care in the world just going to school hanging out with my buds. Playing football at lunch. I normally was one of the first 3 picked that felt pretty good. The rules wer we couldnt play tackle football but we did it anyways never being caught. But i know our science teacher and football coach saw us playing because he said he saw us one day and i was fast that was probably the best compliment i ever recieved because i earned it. Ive always looked at my life as a competition. To be the best or close to it. Theres no since in doing anything unless your going to be the best. The people ive always looked to too compete against. My cousins. The biggest acceleraters in sports around town. Always starting at the best positions in the sports they play. Going to state for wrestling year in and year out. Getting any girls they want. They were the kind of guys that people wanted to be. But i wanted to be better then them.

Well ive tried football didnt work. It doesnt matter how fast you are when ur one of the tallest and bigest framed guys on the team, your going to be put on the line. After long hard thought i shouldnt have quit. I shoulda kept going. Be like Scott Redden. From the line he captained the team and instilled a determination to win in the athletes around him including my cousin dustin who still holds many of the weight lifting records in the weight room and who won the game for the Cowboys plenty of times.

This year is going to be my first year of rodeo. Im going to ride bulls. Thats all i can think about nowadays. Thats all i want to do. My first ride on a bull is going to be on April 3. And on April 5 is going to be my first time riding for competition and im going to do whatever i can do to win that buckle.

I have two friends who rodeo. My best friend Noah Blackwell and my pretty close friend Kody Coblence. Noah does saddle bronc where he rides bucking broncs. Kody on the other hand bullfights or better known as rodeo clowning. Im hitching a ride with him down to the rodeo school. He came up and hugged me yesterday out of no where. I had no idea who the heck was hugging me. Then he let go and i noticed. He made sure i was going to the school and that he's getting other people to go down to and that were all gonna share a room. He also stated that he'd protect me, which doesnt really make me feel that great because its Kody haha.

I sure hope i can make my grandpa proud. He's been the biggest influence on my life and who i want to be. He's been a POW in WWII and hes worked all his life. Not bein given anything but earning everything. He taught me the value of hard work. He's currently 89 and he still walks all day up and down fence fixing it. He continues to hay the old fashioned way which really makes my uncle aggrevated because he could spend just a few thousand dollars for a machine that will make bails of hay smaller and easier to load up and transport. He even broke three ribs about three years ago and only stayed nursed up for bout two weeks or a month then went right back to work.

My friends also play a big part of my life. I always try to hang out with them on the weekend. But because of sports or work they cant. Feels like we're growing up and barely getta see each other anymore. Which really sucks because they helped make me who i am today.

But this next weekend coming up is going to be the best one in a long time. Its the winter ball. I found an amazing girl Lyndsey. She lives in CB and her dad coincidently works with my cousin Dustin. And after the dance my close friend Zach and my lil cousin Jeremy is coming over. Its going to be one hell of a night.

Rodeo

Rodeo, what is it to me? Well i believe its a symbol for how great America is. Its a way for me to do something great. Its a legacy one thats been around for more then a hundred years. Its where dreams are either made or crushed. But where legends from past and present reside. Its the sport where true men compete. They dont complain about pain. Every cowboy is a testament to this. Royce Ford this year rode bareback with sustaining a broken ankle the night before. Laine Frost had a bull come down on his nuts. He competed the next day also and won first place. This is the toughness shown from America's best.
